Volunteer
The ADHL staff consists of full-time employees who are experienced, professionally qualified and culturally diverse. They are assisted by part-time employees and a trained, devoted group of about 30 volunteers and some 15 volunteers-in-training.
ADHL has its own volunteer training program which is around 80 hours of training and includes, site visits to chemical dependency treatment providers, guest speakers and presentations, and in house specialized training.

Bob- “I have been a counseling student (at 59 years old!) for the last 4 years and I came to ADHL hoping to learn about the resources available for callers. I’ve met and worked with a GREAT staff and in listening to the callers, I have heard about the issues (economic, legal, family, individual) they and their families are facing as we are trying to help them get into resources that have become less and less because of our present economic situation.”

Darsheen- “Volunteering has been absolutely rewarding for me both personally and professionally. Personally it has helped me to overcome some fears related to chemical dependent people; it has also given me clarity and great awareness between identifying chemical dependency and mental illness. I have always been of serventhood and what a way to serve! It has truly been a blessing in a disguise.”

Jeff- “ADHL has been a blessing to me as I start trudging the path to become a CDP. Not only have I learned a vast amount of resources and techniques to get people into treatment in the State of Washington, but I have also learned a great deal about the treatment industry, and what it truly means to help a person in crisis from an objective standpoint.”
